Central Institute of Fisheries Education is India’s premier institute for fisheries education, training and research, established in 1961 under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Government of India. It was granted Deemed to be University status in 1989.

CIFE offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in fisheries science and allied disciplines. With state-of-the-art laboratories, national research centres, international collaborations and strong ICAR support, CIFE is widely recognised as the top fisheries education and research institute in India.
