Preparation Tips for GATE 2027

Since the notification is expected in July-August 2026, you have 7 to 8 months to prepare. That is a solid window if you start right now.

Start with General Aptitude — it carries 15 marks in every paper and is the easiest to score. Cover Engineering Mathematics next — it appears in almost all engineering papers. Build your subject fundamentals chapter by chapter and do not rush. Solve GATE previous year papers from at least the last 10 years. All the exam activities will be managed by the dedicated GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal. Practice NAT (numerical) questions regularly as they carry no negative marking and are scoring. Take full-length mock tests from November 2026 onwards. For PSU target, aim for a score above 700.
