Homi Bhabha National Institute is a premier research-focused deemed university established by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India in 2005. The institute is named after Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha, the father of India’s nuclear programme.

HBNI functions as an umbrella university for India’s top DAE institutions, including BARC, TIFR, IGCAR, VECC and other national laboratories. It offers postgraduate and doctoral programmes in science, engineering, technology, medicine and interdisciplinary research.
