Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram was established in 2007 by the Department of Space, Government of India under the aegis of ISRO.

IIST is India’s first space-focused university, dedicated to education and research in space science, space technology and applications. The institute is located at Valiamala near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
