The Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) is one of the oldest and most prestigious veterinary research institutions in India. It is located in Izatnagar, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh and operates under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
The institute was originally established in 1889 as the Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory and later renamed as the Indian Veterinary Research Institute after independence.
In 1983, the institute was granted the status of “Deemed to be University” by the Government of India under the UGC Act.
IVRI is globally recognized for research in veterinary medicine, animal biotechnology, livestock health, disease control and animal production technologies. The institute also operates regional campuses in Bengaluru, Mukteshwar, Palampur, Pune and Kolkata.
The institute has modern laboratories, research centers, animal hospitals, experimental farms and advanced diagnostic facilities. It is considered one of the top veterinary science institutions in India.
